{"id":167,"date":"2016-07-17T08:35:22","date_gmt":"2016-07-17T08:35:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gapsfm.com\/Dummy2nd\/?p=167"},"modified":"2016-07-17T08:35:22","modified_gmt":"2016-07-17T08:35:22","slug":"lady-chapel-ely-cathedral","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elizabethgoudge.org\/index.php\/2016\/07\/17\/lady-chapel-ely-cathedral\/","title":{"rendered":"Lady Chapel Ely Cathedral"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lady Chapel Ely Cathedral<\/p>\n<p>Hello Deborah<\/p>\n<p>I have just been reading your account of\u00a0a visit you made to Ely in 2006.\u00a0 Towards the end of the piece, you comment on the fact that\u00a0Elizabeth makes no mention of the Lady Chapel in her writings.\u00a0 I think I know the reason for this.<\/p>\n<p>Until some time in the past 50 years, what is now the Cathedral&#8217;s Lady Chapel served as the parish church of Holy Trinity, Ely.\u00a0 During our time in the town (from summer 1990 until 1995), there was at least one couple\u00a0who came to services in\u00a0the\u00a0Cathedral who had previously been members of the Holy Trinity congregation.\u00a0 They were then in their early 60s, so the change must have happened since World War II.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve tried to find a date via Google. &#8216;Holy Trinity Church Ely&#8217; produces a number of matches and confirms that the Lady Chapel served\u00a0as a Church for many years, but\u00a0a quick check hasn&#8217;t\u00a0confirmed when the change happened.\u00a0 However,\u00a0it must have been well after Elizabeth&#8217;s time\u00a0in Ely.<\/p>\n<p>Best wishes<\/p>\n<p>Rosemary<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lady Chapel Ely Cathedral Hello Deborah I have just been reading your account of\u00a0a visit you made to Ely in 2006.\u00a0 Towards the end of the piece, you comment on the fact that\u00a0Elizabeth makes no mention of the Lady Chapel in her writings.\u00a0 I think I know the reason for this.
